Complete Guide to Ganga Aarti: Timings & Significance
The Ganga Aarti is a devotional ritual that uses fire as an offering. It's made in the form of a small 'diya' with a candle and flowers that's floated down the river.
When does it happen?
The Aarti takes place daily at dusk, around 6:30 PM in summer and 5:30 PM in winter. It lasts for about 45 minutes.
Where to watch?
The best place to watch is from a boat on the river. You get a front-row view of the priests performing the ritual. Alternatively, you can sit on the steps of Dashashwamedh Ghat.
The ritual involves seven priests performing coordinated movements with heavy brass lamps, accompanied by chants and bells. It is a sight to behold.
